I graduated with an Engineering MPhil from UMIST in 2005. In 2008 I have completed my PhD from The University of Manchester in Mechanical Engineering. I then moved to The University of Aberdeen to complete a PostDoctoral research project. In 2009 I started to collaborate with the Brunel University London (UK) as a Lecturer in Engineering. In Jan 2019, I joined the School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire (UK) as a Senior Lecturer in Engineering.
I have been involved in many research projects and consultancies with industrial companies. I have also been involved as an investigator in several UK, European and International research projects. I am a principal investigator and IP holder of the Arthrex - GraftBolt®.
I teach mechanical engineering courses at Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels. I am an experienced user of FE codes such as ANSYS, and ABAQUS, and teaching CAD software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, Rhino.
Previous to my academic experience, I was a chartered Mechanical Engineering professional with over 8 years industrial experience. I have worked for international companies in various roles within starting as graduate engineer, moving into design and estimation and then on to team management on mechanical and design engineering. While in industry I applied engineering principles to pro-actively seeks ways to improve systems and procedures as well as use every opportunity to develop knowledge base and experience. I have worked on a wide variety of schemes and managed small to large teams. My projects have ranged from simple continuous mechanical component to complex structure projects. My responsibilities have included: management/review of quality of design & programming/planning; technical issues and problem management/solving; detailed design and cost estimation; client liaison and collaboration with different parts of the business; ensuring the required objectives are achieved with acceptable compromises where necessary; data analysis for various disciplines; leading teams of up to 45+ people.
After joining UH, I worked on a series of research council funded R&D projects associated with managing research activity within the Science and Technology Research Institute at the UH. In recent years, in addition to my academic roles, I have been heavily involved in industrial R&D, knowledge transfer projects, multi-national research projects and cross-organisation project management. My research interests relating to the field of engineering technologies focus on the mechanical and biomechanical engineering projects.
