Welcome to the University of Hertfordshire's Getting Ready to Study at Herts module.

Coming to university is an exciting time: there are new friends to make, skills to learn, hobbies to take up and so many discoveries ahead about your chosen subjects. There is also a great deal of uncertainty, especially if you are moving away from home, and a lot of new information can sometimes be a little overwhelming.

Students and staff have worked together on this module to help you prepare for what's to come and to offer some advice about making the most of your time with us. After completing this module, you will be well equipped to on your academic journey here at Herts.

What will be covered in this module?

This module is a comprehensive introduction to studying at Herts, some of most important things you will learn from it are:

You'll participate in this module using Canvas - our online virtual learning environment. Canvas is used across all courses at Herts, so getting used to it now will really help you when your course starts.
You'll be introduced to some of the learning spaces on both of our campuses and it will also guide you through some of the many services available to support you once you’ve arrived.
You'll also be able to look at ways how to further develop your digital skills to allow you to participate in online learning safely, flexibly and effectively.
And finally, you'll also get to hear from some students offering you some tips, advice and opportunities on how university can help you build on your existing skill, knowledge and experience.
